Give Thanks for the Good Vibes

You want to feel better, right? In the language of the Law of Attraction, you want to “vibrate at a higher level” so that you attract to yourself the people, things and situations that also have that higher vibration, that good vibration! But how do you do it? How do you trade in stress, anxiety, fear, anger and depression for peace, hope, joy, love, compassion, care and gratitude?

First off, if you haven’t read it yet, read my previous blog titled “How the Law of Attraction Saved Me”  for 4 great suggestions. Next, try these 4 additional activities:


1-Give thanks. Years ago my doctor of alternative medicine recommended that I try cultivating a gratitude practice and explained all about how it rewires the brain. The more you think thankful thoughts, the stronger those neural pathways become, and you start to do it without even trying after a while. You automatically start to feel thankful, which is a very good feeling. I’m not sure why it took me so long to follow her advice–only about 5 years. . . but now I try to journal what I am thankful for–at least 5 things every day! It doesn’t take long, you don’t need a fancy journal, although that can be fun, and there is always something to be thankful for, not just on Thanksgiving. If you can’t afford the paper to write on, at least think it. Or better, say it out loud. And even better yet, tell someone what you are grateful for. Wow, that lifts the spirit!

Just for fun, see how reading these two passages affects how you feel:

Negative complaining:

I am surrounded by death and decay. So many people lie, cheat and steal. My job sucks. My partner is a jerk. I wish I could get out of this stupid traffic jam. I hate my life.


I am so happy and thankful for this warm, sunny summer day and the gentle breeze that is blowing the leaves around on the beautiful green trees. I love this awesome music that is playing on the radio. I am extremely grateful for my beautiful family. I am so thankful that we have healthy food to eat. I love my life.

Being thankful really makes you feel good. It’s also a tactic you can use to raise the vibration of your family. Next time someone in your family is being grouchy, ask them to tell you three things they are thankful for. It really helps both you and them.


Loving Touch2) Get some good touch. Being touched kindly makes most people feel better. Give some hugs to get some hugs. Get lots of them. Hug people you are close to, hug strangers if they let you, hug your pets. If you have a partner, have some hot sex. (And while you’re doing that, practice feeling the love for your partner in your heart.) If you have no one to touch you, pay for it. Get a Reiki or massage treatment. If you don’t have any people, pets or money, use a stuffed animal and pretend that it is touching you lovingly. Seriously, even imagining it works! And it might make you laugh. If it makes you cry, it is still good because it is releasing negative emotions.

I recently attended a workshop where the speaker had us get at least 3-5 hugs from people we didn’t even know several times a day. It helped people feel good, and it helped the group connect. So don’t be shy, give it a try. Free hugs to all.


3) If you’re still not feeling those good vibrations, forget about yourself for a while and do something nice for someone else. Sometimes you have to give to get. Generosity and compassion make you feel good. Here are some things you could try:

  • volunteer at a local shelter
  • go to your nearest old folks home and give everyone a hug
  • go to your nearest old folks home and talk to one lonely person
  • go to your nearest old folks home and read someone a story
  • volunteer at the zoo
  • volunteer at a school
  • volunteer at the hospital
  • make a large (or small) donation to your favorite charity
  • volunteer your time for your favorite charity if you have no money
  • Do some work for someone who needs help–mow their lawn, run errands, or help them paint…
  • etc., etc., etc…

You will feel so good, and so will the others you help!


Love4) Practice forgiveness. This one can be very difficult, but it really helps you let go of anger and feel better. Remember how I told you in my last blog that I was attracting car accidents when my life was filled with anger and fear? What really helped was when I started to practice forgiving. I didn’t feel it right away, but the more I practiced, the easier it got. For three months straight I faithfully wrote down “I forgive you ______” for all the people I hated and was angry with. And there were a lot of them. After a while, the hate and anger lessened, and then it went away almost completely. Now, when such things surface their ugly heads, I just say in my head one of two things. If I am angry at a person, I simply say “I forgive you ___, and I hope you will forgive me too.” Sometimes that makes my stomach turn, I get a few thoughts about what I really think, and I have to repeat the forgive part several times until I feel the feelings dissolve. If I am angry with a situation, I just recognize it, and try to let it go by saying “Can I let this anger go? Would I let this anger go? When?” (This comes from the Sedona method, which is a blog all its own.) When you finally achieve this forgiveness, you feel so much lighter.
